Newton Waterproofing continues commitment to professional development and training

Newton Waterproofing, the UK’s leading independent designers and suppliers of guaranteed waterproofing systems, has added a new Continual Professional Development (CPD) training session to its portfolio, helping architects and specifiers keep up to date with current industry practices.

The RIBA-approved seminar covers the subject of Type A “barrier” waterproofing protection, which is applied to either the internal or external surface of a structure to resist the pressure of water trying to enter a building.

The presentation also explores Type A waterproofing design requirements, including the principles of Type A membranes, the reasons behind historic failures, and how to design effective Type A solutions utilising pre-applied, post-applied and internal membranes, as well as the relevant detailing and application issues to be aware of.

Newton Waterproofing Managing Director Warren Muschialli comments:

“Newton’s technical experts frequently deliver our RIBA-approved seminars to architects, engineers and construction professionals across the country, and this new addition to our list of seminars will expand our portfolio of training resources and ensure that those in the industry remain up to date with current best practice.”

The new CPD adds to Newton Waterproofing’s already extensive list of seminar options, including:

  • Structural Waterproofing Design Strategies to BS 8102:2009
  • A Designer’s Guide to Type C Internal Basement Waterproofing
  • Achieving Continuity in Concrete Waterproofing

When the easing of government restrictions allow, the company will also be bringing back in-person CPD’s as well as its sixth RIBA-approved offering, the Newton Factory Tour, at its head office and training facility in Tonbridge, Kent.

Until then, Newton is offering CPD sessions via video conference on all major platforms, in accordance with its commitment to supporting those in the industry in their professional development during the challenges posed by Covid-19.

Warren concludes:

“At Newton Waterproofing, we believe that professional development is an ongoing process, which is why we’re proud to help those that need to develop their knowledge and skills in waterproofing practices and continue to raise the standard of work within the sector.”
